The first edition of AP238 was published in 2007 and was available for purchase from the ISO website as ISO 10303-238:2007(E). It has since been replaced by the third edition

The EXPRESS definitions for the Application Interpreted Model (AIM) describe data structures found in an exchange file. The version published with the document is wg3n2097_ap238.exp

All recent work is using a newer schema updated with definitions from STEP CAD AP242. This adds improved GD&T definitions, tesselated models, and better kinematics.

The first edition was published with four conformance classes (CCs). These called out subsets of the model for increasingly complex uses.

ap238_cc1.ws - CC1 Subset, machining programs with explicit toolpaths.
ap238_cc2.ws - CC2 Subset, machining programs with explicit toolpaths plus full shape information for the workpiece, rawpiece and restricted areas on the setup.
ap238_cc3.ws - CC3 Subset, everything in CC2 plus other types of program constructs and features.
integrated_cnc_schema.ws - CC4 adds GD&T and everything else.
